Baptism!!

Life in the hood is going really, really good! This last week was especially great because… LITZI GOT BAPTIZED!
Getting her ready and preparing for the baptism was a lot more stressful than it should have been, but it was all worth it! We had a couple scares during the week like learning that she isn't living in our ward boundaries, in fact.. she doesn't even live in the mission! Then the day of the baptism, she showed up about a half an hour late. That wasn't too big of a surprise though because Hispanics always show up a lot later than they are supposed to haha. Everything worked out though and like I said, it was all worth it!
Her baptism was BEAUTIFUL! She is fourteen years old and her dream has been to go to the temple to do baptisms, and now she gets to this week! She is such a great girl with a solid testimony!

Other than that, we have found some more really great people to start teaching the gospel to! We have been visiting a single mom of six and she is golden! She told us that when she went to church and when we come over, she feels so much peace and like she is at home. The spirit is working magic on her! We taught her how to pray and she just cried. It is one of my favorite things teaching people to pray for the first time because they are always such humble, beautiful prayers where the spirit can be felt so strongly.
We weren't able to see Tono too much this week, only once. He hadn't been reading in the BOM and he didn't come to church. We read in Mosiah 4 and had a very spiritual lesson with him that really touched him. He told us that the night before, he had said a prayer and then went to bed. He woke up a few hours later and had this feeling in his heart that he couldn't describe, but it was strong and he couldn't go back to sleep because of it. He is feeling and recognizing the spirit!
We also set two more baptism dates with people! Things are looking really great!

One thing that our mission president wants us to focus on is how many people are attending sacrament so that we can find out who are the ones we are missing each week. Houston 10 is a huge ward with a lot of members. About a year ago, 210 people would come to church on average, but over time the number has gone down about 50.  Yesterday, we increased in numbers by 20 and had 181 people! Slowly, but surely we are seeing great things happen in the ward!

Everything is great out here and I am so happy to be a missionary!

Love,
Hermana Rupp
