New Area. Houston 10.

I have arrived in my new area located in the hood of Houston, Texas! I am serving in the ward of Houston 10! Not only did I get lucky with my new area, I also got lucky with my companions. That's right, I don't only have one, but I have two companions! Hna Woodard from Oregon and Hna Christensen from Idaho. Hna Woodard and I are finishing training Hna Christensen who has almost been out now for three months! They are both such good missionaries and we have so much fun!

This area is prospering! Everyone here is Hispanic. I could count on one hand how many people that I have seen who aren't. Because of that, we have so many opportunities to teach! We leave our house at 10 AM and teach every hour until 9 PM. It is promising! We are also combining two areas so we have so much work to do! It is awesome!

Lots of miracles are happening out here! One of them was with an investigator that we have that hadn't come to church yet. We went to her house to teach her the plan of salvation, she ended up sharing her huge testimony with us. She is awesome! We then invited her to church, but she told us that she likes to sleep too much on Sundays. I shared Ether 12:27 with her and told her to think about her bed on Sunday mornings as she read it. She loved it! Sunday morning came, and she was there! It ended up being a great experience for her. She actually ended up teaching members in Sunday school. She is so prepared and it was a huge miracle that she came to church!

Another cool thing happened my first day here. We were leaving the house of a lady we had just visited and Hna Woodard felt prompted to talk to a guy she saw sitting on the stairs. Turns out, he didn't even live in the apartment complex where we were at, but he had just been wandering around. He told us that he had been sober for years, but he was thinking about relapsing because he was having a hard day. He looked so sad. As we talked with him, his whole countenance changed. He told us how crazy it was that we had met and talked to him because the feelings of relapsing that he was having left him. He was in complete amazement. It was no coincidence that we ran into that guy in that moment. When we first started talking to him, he was completely against coming to church, but the spirit touched him so strongly that by the end, he wanted to come to institute! It was really cool. It strengthened my testimony that we should always talk to those around us about the gospel no matter how prepared we think that they might be. The spirit can work wonders!

One beautiful thing that happened on Saturday was the baptism of two people that I taught in Oakcrest! Marcela and Seline were baptized by their husband/father. It was such a sweet thing to witness and be a part of!

So many great things happened and will continue to happen! There is so much work to do down here and I am so excited to be a part of it!

Love,
Hermana Rupp
