When I got here, the first thing that I heard was that the ward needed some helping and that the missionaries and members weren't very involved one with another. Good news is that after talking with the ward mission leader and members of the bishopric, we are now on the same page and pumping one another up. There has been a huge amount of progress and a huge difference that I can see even after just two weeks of being here!
Like I said before, everyone here is Hispanic and because of this we have so many opportunities to share the gospel! You could say that I am in heaven.
A few days back, we had just gotten out of a lesson and we were walking down the road. A man came up to us and asked us who we were and what we did. After explaining a little, we set up an appointment to go and visit him.
We went to his house and taught him the restoration. As we talked about Joseph Smith, he was able to relate so well because he too is looking for truth and is confused about what is right. He is seriously just made of gold.
Other cool things have happened like we have gotten in with people that othe missionaries couldn't see before, our investigators have come to church, we have found inactive families whose records aren't in the ward, the list goes on and on! So many great things are happening out here! It is so very exciting!
On another note, being around people that are so fresh from their countries means that we are eating some weird stuff. Wednesday, we were fed pig feet that still had hair on it! That is something that I could live without doing again haha. I also ate food so spicy that I am pretty sure my stomach is permanentely damaged. I mostly think that they gave it to us to watch our reactions as Hermana Christensen was crying and I was sweating and turning as red as a tomato! It has been a good time!
I am so grateful to be here! The church is true!
Love,
Hermana Rupp
